The Gift
There are little things in life that we take for granted... and I guess that is ok. But then there are big things in life that we take for granted, and that really is not ok. Sometimes we need a smack to the head to remind us not to ignore the important things in life...
We have been pretty good at doing bible stories with the kids...and also a kids devotional every couple of days. They love it, and participate eagerly. Its hard to do this all the time, but I think we are doing good if we are getting to it three or four times a week.
Now that Matthew is getting older and reading like a college student, he has been reading more during our family sharing time. And now that Matthew is in 1st grade, he is also moved to a new class in Sunday school. So, on the first day of the new class, the students all got a new Bible. Not a kiddie bible will mostly pictures, but a real full bible (with some pictures). Matthew was ecstatic!
He was jumping in to bible verses and doing memorization. He was asking questions and asking where to find things... Have I grown so old that I do not remember that level of joy?
Now, I (the father) am being motivated by Matthew (the son). He is teaching me the appreciation that I have started to take for granted. Is this not what sharing the gospel is supposed to be like?
Here we have Matthew reading a bible story to his sisters. Its a new shiny present that far surpasses any of the others he has received. It truly is THE GIFT.

That is the sweetest thing I've seen in a long time. I guess that's why Jesus says repeatedly that we have to be like children. They are so much smarter than we are....

Es un ejemplo para todos. Orare que siempre tenga ese entusiasmo.
I love you, Matthew.
